When Is The Best Season To Get Married?

What Season Should I Get Married in?

Allerton Castle has built a solid reputation when it comes to weddings and giving the best advice. For many choosing when to get married is a difficult decision, for many couples as we leave spring and head into summer is the perfect time. But your time will be completely your decision and it all depends on what type of theme and event you’re planning on hosting. So to help your decision a little easier we have put together a little guide looking at what’s trending in 2024 and so positives and negatives hopefully helping you to plan your perfect day.

Before you decide what month you’re going to tie the knot, look at the kind of ceremony you would like and use that as your foundation. Having something to work with usually helps other decisions fall into place more easily, it’s important to remember a little flexibility goes a long way.

Getting Married in Spring

It goes without saying that spring is one of the most popular months for weddings, the nights are getting lighter and the air is fresher and provides beautiful scenery. March weddings are relatively cheap compared to April and May simply because the weather is still unpredictable. Costs start to rise as April and May fast approach. Spring events allow people to plan outside events should they wish to and provide a perfect opportunity for some beautiful wedding shots. March and April usually bring a little bit of rain, May is a little more predictable. Most venues and vendors prices begin to rise. Spring weddings are also the perfect opportunity to save a few pennies this means mid April would be the perfect opportunity.

Getting Married in Summer

Summer is a beautiful time to get hitched. The days become longer and brighter and light bright nights are always a brilliant attraction. Summer months are definitely the most popular for many but this also means prices are the highest and availability tends to be lower, so if you're planning at short notice you're probably going to be disappointed. If you’re looking at June it’s an excellent month they typically provide the longest days providing some amazing photo opportunities. July and August usually provide more sunshine and less chance of downpour. If you have your heart set on a summer wedding then try to be as flexible as possible when it comes to dates, try and book your chosen venue as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Getting Married In Autumn

Autumn is such a beautiful season and provides so much opportunity when it comes to scenery. Of course the good old British weather is so unpredictable. September isn’t so much of a bad month as the air is still mild and the nights are still a little lighter. Although October and November bring cold dark nights they also bring cheaper wedding prices so if cost is a concern a winter wedding could be the perfect choice for you. If you’re wanting an outside wedding then it’s not completely off the cards as gazebos and outside heaters can be provided at most venues. But remember these months bring heavy rain so check out outdoor photo spots in advance as well as indoor spots don’t let that rain ruin your day.

Getting Married in Winter

If you’re not planning a Christmas wedding then the winter months are the least popular but on the plus side it’s the cheapest time of the year to get married with venues and vendors reducing their prices enormously. Don't always write a winter wedding off. They can provide beautiful scenery especially if we have snow fall. If we look at things realistically, winter weddings should be hosted indoors, the best you can hope for is a dry day to provide an opportunity for outdoor shots. January and February are definitely the cheapest months to get married, understandably there is a little rise in price during December.
