The grandest gothic revival castle in all the land…

Welcome to England’s most elegant and illustrious gothic revival stately home; a beautifully preserved relic of the early modern aristocracy and a stunning venue for weddings and events as well as a dramatic TV and film location.

Built by the premier Baron of England, Lord Mowbray, Segrave and Stourton in the 1840s, this stately home is steeped in history. Enter into its time capsule for an insight into by-gone eras, and be enchanted by the ambiance of a castle once owned by Prince Frederick (the ‘Grand Old Duke of York’ and brother to King George IV) in the 18th century.

The estate is open to the public from Easter until the end of October for guided tours and is available year-round to hire for your special day or private event.

Allerton Castle is a truly magical place to celebrate one of the most important days of your life and what could be more romantic than hosting your celebration as masters of Allerton Castle for the day. Bring your friends and family together in this fairytale setting for your memorable milestone, the gothic revival stately home is exclusively yours for the day.

"Jessica It was good to meet you on Friday and thank you for helping us with the final arrangements. On behalf of Pippa and Joe who are just departing on honeymoon and myself, I wanted formally to thank you and all the team at Allerton for such a lovely day on Saturday. Having seen Allerton at the initial viewing with the Taste Cuisine representative last year and from the marvellous full tour with tea last October, we knew it would be good but it surpassed all our expectations. In fact, despite initial disappointment at the fact that the uncertain weather made it sensible to cancel photographs at the church, I felt that it was actually much better doing them in the splendour of the Great Hall (with the stairs perfect for large group shots) and in the beautiful drawing room; the guests could enjoy the magnificent setting and champagne whilst all the photos were being taken! Zoe and the team at Taste Cuisine provided a lovely meal with excellent service. I know that our guests loved the venue and had a wonderful time. Pippa and Joe felt that they had a perfect day. Thank you once again. Regards Ros"

"Visited this magnificent House on Sep 20th 2016. Purchased in 1983 by its current owner an American Businessman Dr Rolph. Who purchased the castle with 1.5 Hectares of land. The building was in a state of disrepair and in need of substantial roof and structural repair. In 1986 Dr Rolph founded the Gerald Arthur Rolph Foundation for Historic Preservation and Education to preserve Allerton Park for English and World Heritage. Im so glad that he did, his contribution to Gothic Architecture and renovation is priceless to our Nation."

"Wow from the first moment you enter the castle. The huge wooden doors at the entrance is so well hung you can open it with one finger. Then you enter a huge space with a 70 feet high ceiling with a wooden roof. Lots of wooden panels and carvings. You go into a large white plaster room that almost gives the impression of a Mediterranean tent. Here you can have tea and cake to wait for the guided tour. An amazing jewel in Yorkshire ! "
