The grandest gothic revival castle in all the land…

Welcome to England’s most elegant and illustrious gothic revival stately home; a beautifully preserved relic of the early modern aristocracy and a stunning venue for weddings and events as well as a dramatic TV and film location.

Built by the premier Baron of England, Lord Mowbray, Segrave and Stourton in the 1840s, this stately home is steeped in history. Enter into its time capsule for an insight into by-gone eras, and be enchanted by the ambience of a castle once owned by Prince Frederick (the ‘Grand Old Duke of York’ and brother to King George IV) in the 18th century.

The castle is open to the public for guided tours on Wednesday and Bank Holiday Monday afternoons from Easter Monday until the end of October, and is available all year round to hire for your special day or private event.

Allerton Castle is a truly magical place to celebrate one of the most important days of your life and what could be more romantic than hosting your celebration as masters of Allerton Castle for the day. Bring your friends and family together in this fairytale setting for your memorable milestone, the gothic revival stately home is exclusively yours for the day.

I had the pleasure of spending a wonderful day with Sharmini & Richard recently when they chose me as their Allerton Castle wedding photographer – it’s such a fabulous venue & one that I really enjoy going back to often.
Do we or don’t we…invite the children? You’d think, after a marriage proposal, the hard part was all done, right? If only! The most important question ever simply paves the way for numerous others - where to tie the knot, when, and who to invite? And if deliberating your guests isn't tough a task, next consider the biggest quandary possible - do you invite kids??!
You need to think about a number of different aspects when writing your speech, but hopefully your worries, questions and hesitations will be answered in this step by step blog.

"Hi Jessica We just wanted to say thank you again for all your help on the run up too and during our wedding day. We had such a fantastic and magical day that without your help and organisation wouldnt have been possible. Thank you for looking after us and our guests and keeping everything running smoothly. Also thank you for taking Sam (the architect) for a tour. That really was above and beyond and he still hasn’t stopped talking about it. The day was a dream come true in a magical venue! "Hello Jessica and Hannah First of all thank you so much for absolutely everything you both did to ensure that our wedding day went has we hoped it would. Darren and I had the best day ever and speaking with our guests so did they. For me the stress was removed by yourselves and Daryl and his team at Bradshaws, that was so important. Jessica, nobody noticed you straighten my dress at the top of the stairs until they watched a video, that made me chuckle. Stealth like!! Guests were in awe of the venue and talk about the beautiful surroundings, I think for Darren and I despite the grandeur of a castle, it felt personal and intimate. It is unique and when I look at other weddings in hotels they are pretty but you know that the rooms are used for business and other such events. It was my very own fairytale. Nothing was ever too much trouble, you both ensured everything run to time, even though the registrar was late! Thank you for putting a picture of us on your instagram....that’s cool. Many thanks Martine Hartley"

First of all thank you so much for absolutely everything
"Lovely location for a lovely home.. What an experience to be able to have a tour around a lovely home that is open to all and is looked after to the highest quality.. Being able to walk on the original carpets where the owners previously did, sit on chairs which the owners did/do, be able to enjoy all aspects of the home.. Knowing somebody has spent fortunes on the premises and land for others to enjoy is clearly amazing, hats off the owner.. The guides with their wide span of knowledge of the home and area was amazing and very entertaining.. Definitely be going back and also letting others know its a must..."

Thank you for an "incredible" visit to Allerton Castle.
"Visited the castle today with our HHA membership. Only open free to HHA on Wednesday and Bank holiday afternoons. We went on the 12.30 Tour with Jane. We thought it was a fascinating visit and Jane was excellent. Gerald Rolfe the owner allows you to walk on the expensive carpets and and sit on most of the lovely chairs. This Castle is well known for its weddings but a visit to see the castle is well worth the effort. The grand hall was amazing as was all the gothic look to the place"

"Our daughter and son in law got married here in Nov, the day could not have gone any better, everything went so smoothly, which was down to Jessica and our daughter Victoria organizing everything before the day, we used Bradshaw catering of York and I can honestly say it was the best food we have ever had at a wedding, we had so many comments about the food, the grounds are beautiful and you won't find anywhere with a more impressive interior, you need to go and have a look to truly appreciate it.
