Porte Cochere

Located at the front of the Castle, the Porte-Cochere is a gateway that provides a passage for vehicles through the house and into the courtyard. It features a gabled tower and oriel windows.

Within the porte-cochere entrance are life-sized statues of Henry VII (1457-1509), King of England (1485-1509) and Elizabeth of York, (1466–1503), Queen consort of Henry VII (1486–1503). Both statues were carved from Caen stone by Charles Raymond Smith for the ground floor gallery of Mamhead Park, Devonshire.
