Allerton Castle is open to the public for guided tours on Wednesday afternoons & Bank Holiday Monday afternoons from Easter to October, so I recommend that you take the opportunity to have a look round whilst you can!

The tours are every hour, from 12.30pm to 3:30pm. There is no need to book, so feel free to show up on the day! You will be greeted by a warm and welcoming smile from our friendly volunteer team as you walk into the Castle.

Our tour guides are volunteers who have a great deal of knowledge about Allerton Castle and your tour starts in the Ballroom with a short history of the Allerton estate and its previous owners. This takes around 20 minutes, so you can sit back with a cup of tea, a slice of cake and soak up the compelling history of Allerton Castle.

You will then move on to the history of the Ballroom where you will discover who the amazing carpenter was that did the carving of the great Oak doors in this room, and the delicately detailed sideboards.

Your tour covers the entire first floor of Allerton Castle, including the spectacular Drawing room, Library, Billiards room and many more. As you go in to every room your tour guides will share captivating information about its features and artefacts. Photography is not allowed inside the castle but before you leave, there is an illustrated and informative Guide Book available to buy as a memento of your visit.

After the tour is over, feel free to stay and have another drink whilst you digest all the history that you have learnt. or you can take a walk outside to explore our grounds, including the memorial gardens and terraces.

Intrigued for more?

Our Special tours offer a delightful sherry reception, tour of the spectacular rooms on the ground floor. You will then be invited into the Ballroom for a traditional afternoon tea before heading upstairs to explore the second floor of Allerton Castle and have access to some rooms that were only used for royalty!

Tuesday 14th August 2018 and Sunday 21st October 2018.
