The Mowbray, Segrave & Stourton shield and pelmet over the Great Doors at the entrance of the castle are original to the house.
Note the spectacular carved oak arches and ceiling.
The paintings are:
Mary Magdalena, Spanish School, early 18c. Stuart lady with a miniature depicting the Stuart gentleman opposite (said to be Mary Fawnes and John Fawnes), Anglo-Dutch school 1648.
The doors into the Great Hall tower over 16ft. in height but can be moved with your small finger.
